This is the day the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice!
We started this day with an opening prayer with a hymn that invited us to praise the Lord for His wonderful works, “Laudate Dominum”. We also sung : “We are many parts”. This song brought us to the awareness that though we come from different parts of the world and from varied cultures, we are one body and the gifts we have are to be shared out of love for the Lord who called us. Both songs triggered in each one of us the right sentiments for task before us today: the selection of the General Councilors.
Aided by the power of the Holy Spirit, the process of election was gradual and went on well. As a result, we elected four councilors from four continents and for the first time one councilor from Africa:
- Vicar General – M. Keelath Josemary from India
- Councilor – M. Litmanovich Mariana from Argentina
- Councilor – M. Dwyer Melissa from Australia
- Councilor – M. Dos Santos Albertina from Africa
We praise the Lord for His marvelous works in us!
In the First reading of the Word of God during mass, the prophet Isaiah said: “I come to gather nations of every language…”. This prophecy has been fulfilled today! The General Council is comprehensive of all nations and they are brought together by the Lord to serve Him. We thank the Lord for the gifts they are and for their availability to accept the call of the Lord. We pray for them that they may carry this mandate in the Spirit of the Greatest Love.
The visit of Father Carlo Bittante, Canossian General, portrayed the unity of the Canossian family. We thank him for enriching us with his presence and the celebration of Mass.
