The feast of our Lady of Sorrows was also celebrated by the two communities of Luanda, at the place of the Cassenda Delegation together with the Pastoral Community of Our Lady of Good Counsel.
The community showed great gratitude for the opportunity to be together with the Canossian Sisters and learn more from Mary, the strong woman in faith and co-redemptrix of humanity.
On September 14, the Sisters made their monthly recollection led by Fr. Augusto Chilonguo, Diocesan Priest of the Diocese of Luanda. In his preaching on “Mary Model of Consecrated Life”, Fr. Augustus stressed the importance of Mary’s presence in the lives of consecrated persons, and the imitation of her virtues, both human and Christian.
The Consecrated persons learn from Mary to embrace the Word of God and to open themselves to the action and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, so that in this way they will be able to know God’s will and carry out, with humility and magnanimity, the mission that God has entrusted to everyone in this world.
September 15 is the day of the Patroness of the Institute. It was a very special day with the renewal of vows and promises. Two junior sisters: Sr. Luzia Cangula and Sr. Júlia Mugiba renewed their religious vows for the first time, while the 4 Lay Canossians made their promise: Luzaiadio Santos, Joana, Beatriz Falcão and Ana Maria Neto. Usually, the Sisters of the community, following the Canossian tradition, renewed their vows to follow the Lord forever, following the path of holiness in poverty, chastity and obedience. The affirmative response of the Sisters and Laity to God’s call is a sign of the vitality of the Spirit and of the acceptance of the Word of God in their lives.
Encouraged by the exhortation of our Parish Priest, Fr. Felisberto Sakulukusu, CSSP who lovingly presided over this celebration, we thank God for his infinite kindness, for having given the Canossian Charism to enrich the Church of Christ on earth, so that many of our brothers can know and love Jesus.
