Being There: Mary’s Lesson at the Foot of the Cross
This month of September carries a special significance, for it is dedicated to Mary at the foot of the Cross — one of the most profound and revealing moments of her life and of the life of her Son, Jesus.
A Journey of Formation with Saint Josephine Bakhita, towards WYD Seoul 2027
The Canossian Daughters of Charity are pleased to share, with joy and gratitude, a new initiative: the Online Formation Programme on the Spirituality of Saint Josephine Bakhita and the Canossian Charism.
The initiative arises from two events that invite us to rediscover the gift of Mother Bakhita’s life for the Church and for the world: she has been chosen as one of the patron saints of World Youth Day Seoul 2027.
Pope Leo XIV’s strong appeal: “Water is a universal good, not a commodity”
With the start of September and on the occasion of the Season of Creation, Pope Leo XIV has issued a heartfelt message focused on the stewardship and the spiritual and social value of water. Through the usual video for the monthly prayer intention promoted by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, the Pontiff drew global attention to one of the most urgent ecological and human challenges of our time: the fundamental right to drinking water for every human being.
Where the Summer Took Us… and Where It Will Take Us Now

Future in Hand – Shaping and moulding one’s own tomorrow
“The future is in your hands.” An encouragement, a wish, a hope that we would like to see come true in the life of every person, but especially in the lives of so many young men and women across the world.
The Bakhita Vocational Training Centre in Bukoba (Tanzania) welcomes around a hundred girls and women each year who, through short or year-long courses in Tailoring, Computer Studies and Typing, seek to acquire valuable skills that are much sought after by local businesses and trades.
I am Jessi and I will be my family’s chance at a fresh start
Payakaraopeta is a town in the state of Andhra Pradesh, a short distance inland from India’s eastern coast on the Bay of Bengal.
Jessi, fifteen years old, lives here with his family and, despite his very young age, is effectively the head of the household.
Orphaned of his father, whom he lost when he was only four, he lives with his younger sister, who is unfortunately blind, and his mother, a housewife who, in order to provide for her family, works as a domestic helper and occasionally also as a coolie (unskilled manual labourers employed for heavy work at very low wages).
