Hello. My name is Sister Marguerite, although people here call me Maggie.

Fifty years ago, when I was asked to come to Japan as a missionary, some people in England said to me: “Why are you going to such a wealthy country? They do not need missionaries.”

My answer then, and still today, is that the greatest poverty is not knowing Jesus—not knowing that we have a loving Father who sent His Son to die for us on the Cross.

This is why, during my 50 years here in Japan, mostly teaching in schools, I have tried, through my words, my actions, the way I live and the way I ask for forgiveness when I fail to live as I should, to help people understand how much God loves them.

If we can share, in some way, the grace we have received, then we are missionaries wherever we are.
