(Comoro – Dili) – On 7 October, members of the CONECTIL team, the National Commission for Catholic Education of Timor-Leste, carried out a monitoring visit to schools to support and accompany the implementation of religious and moral education within students’ educational pathway.

During the visit, they met with school leaders and teachers of the subject. The discussion provided an opportunity to share information and experiences on the implementation of the programme, the challenges encountered, and the importance of offering religious and moral formation appropriate to different age groups.

The team members also distributed educational and spiritual materials for the various school levels, including Religious and Moral Education textbooks, copies of the Bible, the hymn book Hananu ba Nai, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. These resources provide practical support for teachers’ work and help students gain a deeper understanding of the Christian faith, moral values, and the teachings of the Church.

The initiative forms part of an educational commitment that goes beyond the transmission of knowledge and aims to foster students’ human, spiritual, and moral growth. Through religious and moral education, educators accompany them in developing values such as respect, solidarity, responsibility, love for one’s neighbour, and service, helping them to live out their faith in the family, at school, and in society.

Collaboration between CONECTIL, school leaders, and teachers is a fundamental element of this shared mission: to accompany the younger generations in their knowledge of Christ and in bearing witness to Christian values through education.
