Brief history of the Delegation
At the request of Mgr. P. Kpodzro, on 21st November 1994, from the Province of Milan (Italy) Sr. Matilde CENGIA, Sr. Gina GAMBA and Sr. Lina ZOCCOLI arrived in Togo.
- In AGOE (diocese of Lomé): on 10th May 1995, construction of the perimeter fence of the Youth Centre began and on 7th September 1995 Sr. Tina BAIGUERA arrived in Togo as the new Superior. On 30th January 1996, Mons. Philippe KPODRZO laid the first stone of the Community and the Spirituality Centre. On 30th March 1998, the first Sisters joined the new community together with the pre-postulants. On 2nd November 1999, the AGATA CARELLI Centre opened its doors: college and professional school: tailoring/hairdressing school/BT. On 24th November 1999: Holy Mass for the inauguration of the school. In September 2015, the Sisters opened another community “Maria Madre della Speranza” for the Sisters who dedicate themselves to the “Bakhita” Health Centre, then in January 2019 the “Gesù Educatore”, the community inside the school for the Sisters who dedicate themselves to this apostolate.
- In DATCHA (diocese of Atakpamé): On 16th September 1995, M. Gina and Sr. Justine moved to Datcha. M. Lina joined them. On 26th November 1995, the “San Giuseppe” Health Centre in Datcha was inaugurated, in the presence of Msgr. Kouto. Towards the end of 1996, Mgr. Kouto dedicated the new parish of Datcha to St. Magdalene of Canossa. In December 2013, the Sisters settled in the Volunteers’ house, continuing to serve at the hospital. The community was closed on 2nd October 2015, to be reopened in November 2017: it welcomed the novices of the Province.
- In WUITI (diocese of Lomé): The community that already welcomed aspirants was opened on 15th September 2003 as a formation house for postulants.
- In GBOTO (diocese of Aneho): The Sisters were present from October 2016 to July 2018.
- In SOTOUBOUA (diocese of Sokodé) In August / September 2018, the Sisters arrived in Sotouboua for the mission. On 9th December 2018, the new community was blessed by Bishop Célestin Gaoua.
