A radiant day of joy and dignity was celebrated at the Canossa Social Centre in Faizabad, also known as Ayodhya, as young women received their certificates upon completing vocational training in tailoring, beauty, and hairdressing.
This milestone, the fruit of months of perseverance and dedication, represents a profound turning point in the lives of these women—many of whom come from vulnerable backgrounds. Through the skills they have acquired, they are now equipped to support their families and shape a future marked by dignity, stability, and hope.
Located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Faizabad/Ayodhya is a city steeped in historical and spiritual significance. Amidst the daily realities of social and economic hardship, initiatives such as those carried out by the Canossa Social Centre shine as beacons of light—offering concrete opportunities for transformation, especially for young women at the margins of society.
At the heart of this journey stands Sister Julie Pereira, who, with steadfast commitment and maternal care, has guided her students with wisdom and compassion. Her ability to kindle trust, awaken forgotten gifts, and nurture hidden talents has been a source of inspiration for all.
The ceremony was further graced by the presence of Sister Lucy Gonsalves, the Director of the Centre, whose words of encouragement and spiritual closeness brought warmth and added meaning to the event.
A heartfelt expression of gratitude is due to all those who contributed to this initiative of social empowerment—an authentic embodiment of the Canossian charism: to educate with love, restoring in every woman the hope, strength, and possibility of a new beginning.
