San Juan City — On 15 September 2026, the Canossian community in the Province of the Sacred Heart, Philippines–Papua New Guinea, joyfully celebrated the First Religious Profession of Sister Joy Prima Lamod, FdCC, on the Solemnity of Our Lady of Sorrows, the patronal feast of the Institute.
With a loving and generous “yes”, Sister Joy consecrated herself to God as a Canossian Daughter of Charity, accepting the call to follow Christ Crucified in the footsteps of Saint Magdalene of Canossa.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Father Antonio Pernia, SVD. Sister Estrella Vasquez, Provincial Superior, received Sister Joy’s religious vows.
This grace-filled moment was celebrated joyfully by the Canossian priests, Canossian lay people, family members, friends and mission partners. Everyone joined in giving thanks for God’s faithfulness and for the gift of Sister Joy’s vocation.
The community prayed that Sister Joy might draw from Mary’s faithful presence at the foot of the Cross the strength to persevere in love, as well as generosity in service and the courage to proclaim life wherever God may send her.
The Canossian community congratulated Sister Joy and expressed the hope that her “yes” may continue to be a precious gift to God and to His people.
