(Becora, Dili) – On 30 June 2026, the Province of Saint Joseph of Timor-Leste concluded the Fraternal Canonical Visit of the General Council with a day of prayer, formation, communion and hope, bringing together all the communities of the Province.
During the morning, the four General Councillors led a reflection inspired by a letter of Saint Magdalene of Canossa to Domenica Faccioli, inviting each sister to renew her fidelity to the Lord, to live authentic communication and to rediscover herself as part of one Body in Christ.
During the Eucharistic Celebration, Archbishop Marcel Šmejkal, Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature, recalled that just as Jesus remained in the boat with the disciples during the storm, so too he continues today to be present in the life and mission of the communities, sustaining them with his hope and fidelity.
The high point of the celebration was the official launch of the three-year preparation for the 150th Anniversary of the Canossian Mission in Timor-Leste (2029). The Lamp of Charity, accompanied by the Book of Gratitude, will begin its pilgrimage through all the communities of the Province, collecting memories, testimonies and acts of thanksgiving along this jubilee journey.
The Book of Memory of the Deceased Missionary Sisters was also presented and will be distributed to all the communities as a sign of gratitude for the life and witness of the missionaries who dedicated their existence to the evangelisation and education of the Timorese people.
With gratitude for the journey made and trust in the future, the Canossian Family now begins a new time of preparation, renewing its commitment to live the charism of Saint Magdalene of Canossa with fidelity, joy and missionary spirit.
