Hello, I am Sister Izabel, and since 2007 I have responded to the call to the Ad Gentes mission. That year, in Araras, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, I received the missionary crucifix.
Like Abraham, I set out without knowing where the Lord’s goodness would lead me. Poland was my first mission land, where I learnt to put into practice the meaning of the word inculturation. It was a rich and challenging experience. I thank God for everything.
Since 2013, Portugal has welcomed me, and I have now been experiencing the richness of mission here for 13 years.
Pope Francis used to say: “Mission is each one of us.” For that is precisely what mission is: loving, being available, welcoming the gift that God offers us each day and seeking to respond with enthusiasm to Saint Magdalene’s invitation to make Christ known and loved.
