Ayodhya, India — On 16 September 2026, on the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Canossa Convent Girls’ Inter College, Faizabad, Ayodhya, organized a meaningful service activity as an expression of love, compassion and sharing with people in need.
The students, accompanied by their teachers and the Sisters of the community, distributed educational materials to children who are unable to attend formal schooling. Through this simple yet significant gesture, they offered encouragement and support to children who have limited opportunities for education, affirming their dignity and right to learn.
The group also visited an Old Age Home, where they distributed cleaning accessories and spent time expressing their care and concern for the elderly residents. This gesture of sharing was a concrete expression of respect, love and solidarity towards those who are often in need of companionship and support.
Mary, who stood faithfully at the foot of the Cross and shared in the suffering of her Son, teaches us to remain close to those who suffer. Inspired by her example and by the charism of Saint Magdalene of Canossa, the students, teachers and Sisters sought to transform the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows into concrete gestures of charity and service.
The initiative became a beautiful expression of the Canossian spirit of love, compassion and selfless service. It reminded the students that even small acts of kindness can bring dignity, joy and hope to the lives of others.
Through this gesture of sharing, the Canossa community encouraged the students to become instruments of hope, learning to see Christ in those who are most vulnerable and to respond to their needs with generous hearts.
“Love is the greatest service we can offer to others.”
