(Belagavi) – On 29 June 2026, the 14th anniversary of the recognition of the venerability of Mother Fernanda Riva, “Missionary of Joy”, was celebrated with great devotion, enthusiasm and gratitude on the campus of St. Joseph’s Convent High School in Belagavi. The celebration was held under the guidance of the person in charge, Sr Lovita D’Souza, the principal Sr Antoneta Cardozo, the PU College principal Sr Shobha and the kindergarten principal Sr Neeta Pereira, with the full and joyful participation of staff and students from all sections.
The programme began with a prayer dance presented by the D.Ed. students to invoke God’s blessing; the kindergarten pupils captivated the participants with a dance-drama that effectively portrayed the values dear to Mother Fernanda Riva, making everyone feel immersed in a climate of spirituality and peace.
The secondary school students presented an inspiring play that illustrated the life and mission of Mother Fernanda Riva. Through their performance, they highlighted her unwavering faith, dedication to education and selfless service to humanity, inspiring all present to imitate her virtues.
Adding a special touch to the occasion, the PU College students offered a melodious song in honour of Mother Fernanda Riva. The song highlighted her vision, spirit and commitment to forming young minds, leaving a significant impression on the audience.
The celebration was carefully organised by members of the St. Magdalene Club and the St. Bakhita Club. Their commitment ensured the success of the programme and helped deepen understanding of the life and legacy of Mother Fernanda Riva among the students. It was a significant reminder of Mother Fernanda Riva’s inspiring journey, emphasising her message of faith, love, service and education.
At the end, all present felt encouraged to continue her mission, becoming instruments of hope, compassion and positive change in society.
