From this Sunday, and in the following ones, the Gospels present us with the value of prayer, so that, like the disciples, we may learn to pray in the way of Jesus.
The multiplication of the loaves and fishes takes place in the desert: an arid, dry place, far from everything. And it is there that Jesus reveals himself, multiplying the few loaves and fishes that are offered to him, so abundantly that everyone is satisfied, and there is even more than enough left over to be gathered.
When Jesus discovers our deserts, he invites us to set aside what is little, scarce, and unlikely, and to place everything in his hands. With trust, so that He may act even in the desert.
