(Andheri) – 28 June 2026 marked a significant milestone in the Canossian mission at Andheri, of compassionate service with the inauguration of Sneha Bhojan, a ministry dedicated to providing wholesome and nutritious meals to the poor.

After careful planning and discernment , this long-cherished dream became a reality. The initiative reflects the heart of the Canossian charism—seeing and serving Christ in the poorest and most vulnerable.

The first person to receive a meal was a humble ragpicker, whose quiet presence reminded everyone that every person is worthy of dignity, love, and care. Soon afterwards, nearly 30 more brothers and sisters in need gathered and were warmly welcomed. Each one was served with a smile, respect, and a nourishing meal.

The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and joy. It was a deeply moving experience for the sisters and volunteers, who found immense happiness not merely in distributing food, but in sharing God’s love through simple acts of kindness. Every plate served became a gesture of hope, compassion, and human dignity.

As Sneha Bhojan takes its first steps, it stands as a living tribute to the Gospel call to feed the hungry and a fitting remembrance of the 14th Anniversary of the Recognition of the Venerability of Mother Fernanda Riva. May this humble beginning continue to bring hope to many and inspire countless hearts to become instruments of God’s love.
