(Dili) — A group of Mothers of the General Council of the Canossian Sisters, composed of Madre Sandra Maggiolo (Superior General), Me.Mariana Litmanovich, Me. Melissa Dwyer and Me. Albertina Luiz Dos Santos: arrived at Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili at 15:00 this afternoon to begin their canonical visit to S. Joseph Province of Timor-Leste.
The delegation was welcomed by the Superiors of the communities of Dili and some sisters and escorted to the Provincialate in Becora. There, representatives of different Canossian youth groups, Lay Canossians, Canossian Volunteers TL and almost all sisters residing in the 4 communities in Dili had gathered to greet their superiors with joy and reverence.
The reception was marked by vibrant cultural expressions: novices performed a traditional dance, while the visitors were honored with TAIS—Timor-Leste’s traditional woven cloth—and bouquets of flowers. These gestures symbolized the affection and respect of the Timorese sisters towards their leaders.
The arrival of the General Council sets the tone for the days ahead, as the 18 Canossian communities in Timor prepares for the official opening of the canonical visit.
Welcome to Timor-Leste — a land of faith, hope, love, and warmth.
