Delicias, Chihuahua – From March 28 to April 5, 2026, the Canossian Mission took place in Delicias municipality, Chihuahua.

Organized by Canossian sisters from Chihuahua and 7 youth after a spiritual retreat, the mission was held in a Franciscan community celebrating the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s birth.

During Holy Week, the young women experienced prayer, adoration, formation, and fraternal moments proclaiming “Jesus who is not loved because He is not known”.

Testimony of missionary Mariana Zubia

“During this Holy Week we carried out a mission in the Revolución community at the San Juan Bautista chapel, with children, youth, and adults with whom we shared the meaning of Holy Week and how to live it.

The experience was very beautiful, to be honest, at first I arrived a bit discouraged, but as the days passed and I shared with the children, adults, and youth, my perspective changed because it was wonderful to describe how little by little they trusted us, then they expressed themselves freely and participated.

The experience of living together with my missionary companions was also very significant. The service experience leaves emotion in the heart and a feeling hard to explain with words. During these days I realized that God is in every person and that filled my heart with joy, hope, emotion, something that only God, service to Him and to others can give.

For the same reason that God is the only one who can do that and more, of course it was a bit difficult for me in part, because I’ve always been a bit more introverted, at times I felt myself waver but not completely, because God was always there, as well as my companions and the sisters supporting and helping me, so I really learned much more than what I was going to give.

God always gives us much more and I would love to participate in a mission again.”
