The Canossian community of St Michael in Rome recently gathered for a time of prayer, formation and fraternal sharing, marking the beginning of a new spiritual journey inspired by the charism of St Magdalene of Canossa.
The meeting opened the charism formation course, a path designed to deepen the participants’ understanding of Canossian spirituality and to rediscover, in the rhythm of everyday life, how the love of God and the call to serve others can be made visible today.
The course itself is conceived as a space for formation and shared reflection, where each Sister taking part is invited to encounter more deeply the spiritual heritage of St Magdalene of Canossa — a spirituality rooted in love for God and in attentive care for the smallest and most vulnerable.
Through moments of reflection, dialogue and prayer, the journey encourages participants to revisit their own experience of faith in the light of the Gospel, guided by a distinctive spiritual approach that unites contemplation with service.
In this sense, the course is not simply a programme of formation, but a genuine experience of community life, helping the Sisters rediscover the value of fraternity and shared faith within the Christian journey.
The day began with the celebration of Holy Mass, presided over by Fr Tadeo, a Canossian religious. Gathered around the altar, the community entrusted to the Lord the beginning of this new period of formation and spiritual growth.
Also present for the celebration were Sr Josemary, Sr Mariana and Sr Albertina, members of the General Council, whose participation made the occasion all the more meaningful. Their presence served as a visible sign of the communion that unites the entire Canossian family and of the shared desire to walk together in faith.
The gathering also provided a valuable opportunity to deepen the bonds among the members of the community. In an atmosphere of simplicity and welcome, the Sisters were able to share moments of conversation and attentive listening, experiencing how faith is nurtured and strengthened precisely through the life of the community.
Over the coming weeks, the community of St Michael will continue this journey through further moments of formation, prayer and shared reflection.
It is a simple yet meaningful path, inviting each Sister to be guided by the Greatest Love — Jesus Crucified, who breathes nothing but charity, and to live her Christian and Canossian vocation with renewed awareness in the everyday circumstances of life.
