A time of grace, encounter, and renewal—this is how the Province of Mary Immaculate experienced the Canonical Visit of the General Council.
The visit began with Sr. Josemary Keelath, Vicar General, who first met with the sisters of the Prema Mandira and Sagarahalli communities. The Provincial Council then offered the General Council a comprehensive overview of the life of the Province, followed by a meaningful paraliturgy that formally opened the Visit, inspired by the theme: “The light received, the love shared, and the legacy carried forward.”
From there, the journey continued through the communities of Kerala, marked by attentive listening and a spirit of shared reflection.
The arrival in Bangalore of Mother General, Sr. Sandra Maggiolo, together with General Councillor Sr. Albertina Santos, brought renewed momentum to the Visit. At the Provincial House, a moment of prayer opened days of fraternal dialogue and communal discernment.
The Canonical Visit unfolded as a true pilgrimage among the communities. Sr. Albertina visited Anekal, then continued to Kotagiri and Wellington, and later to Pallithode and Mayithara. At the same time, Mother General Sr. Sandra and Sr. Albertina met with the sisters in the Trivandrum region, while Sr. Sandra and Sr. Josemary visited the Kannur region, sharing in the life of the communities of Canossa, Cherukunnu, and Bakhita Bhavan.
Sr. Melissa Dwyer also joined the Visit, beginning in Karunagappally and continuing to the communities of St. Mary’s in Vypeen and Canossa in Alleppey. The visits extended to several other presences of the Province, including St. Joseph’s in Alleppey and the communities of Fatima, Cochin, and Kandakadavu.
A particularly meaningful moment was the time the General Council spent together at St. Joseph’s in Alleppey—days marked by shared reflection, attentive listening, and discernment, strengthening bonds of communion and a renewed sense of belonging.
Following the visit to the South India Province, Mother General and the General Council travelled to Visakhapatnam for the Canonical Visit of the South-East India Delegation. The welcome, both simple and joyful, reflected the spirit of communion: Delegate Superior Sr. Daisy Antony, together with her Council, the sisters, and the aspirants, received them with gestures and expressions rooted in local tradition.
A paraliturgy opened the presentation of the eleven communities and the various apostolic ministries of the Delegation, offering a vivid and concrete glimpse into the life of the mission.
The sisters of the Delegation later gathered at the Visakhapatnam House for a fraternal meeting marked by listening, sharing, and common reflection.
The Visit then continued across the Delegation’s communities: Mother General carried forward the encounters, while the General Councillors visited various presences, sharing in the daily life and apostolic realities of the sisters.
A meeting with the Delegation Council marked the formal conclusion of the Canonical Visit.
The journey continued with further visits to several communities of both the Province and the Delegation, in a spirit of ongoing presence and closeness.
This Canonical Visit has truly been a time of grace—strengthening fraternal bonds, renewing commitment to the mission, and faithfully carrying forward the light and legacy of the Canossian charism.
