LOMÉ – Local Superiors and Vice-Superiors of the Delegation of Togo took part in a formation session dedicated to women’s leadership, entitled “Leadership féminin – Les qualités pour être une animatrice efficace”. The initiative was designed to deepen relational skills and strengthen the capacity for guidance and animation—essential qualities for those entrusted with leading communities and educational and social initiatives.
The formation was led by Dr Alpha Akila, who guided participants in reflecting on the qualities required for effective leadership: attentive listening, sound decision-making, clear communication, and genuine care for people. Through moments of dialogue and shared reflection, the sisters were able to exchange concrete experiences and explore a style of leadership that harmonises responsibility with a spirit of service.
In Togo, a West African nation marked by a predominantly young population and significant social challenges, women play a pivotal role in community life. Often engaged in education, formation, and the accompaniment of the most vulnerable, they are an essential resource for social cohesion and local development.
The formation unfolded in an atmosphere of active participation and openness, encouraging the sharing of experiences and identifying practical tools to make the service of leadership and accompaniment more effective.
Participants underlined that initiatives of this kind offer a valuable opportunity for both personal and communal growth. Investing in women’s leadership, they noted, means strengthening the ability of communities to address contemporary challenges, promoting models of guidance rooted in collaboration, attentive listening, and shared responsibility.
This formation forms part of a broader commitment to ongoing development, grounded in the conviction that well-prepared and person-centred leadership can make a tangible contribution to building more inclusive and resilient communities.
