(Coorparoo, Brisbane, Australia) – The community of Coorparoo was blessed with the canonical visit of Sr Mariana Litmanovich, General Councillor, from 4th to 6th July. The Sisters sought to make Sr Mariana feel welcome, and she in turn welcomed them with her smile, her love and her sense of belonging and care for each one.
The opening prayer of the visit was simple and trusting: the presence of the Most Holy Trinity and all its gifts was invoked so that the community might be open to the light of the Lord and bring to fulfilment in the future what the Spirit and St Magdalene held in their hearts for them. For each Sister, it was a precious gift and a fraternal and heartfelt encounter to meet Sr Mariana personally.
The General Councillor visited the local parish church, attended Holy Mass, met the parish priest and visited Canossa Kindy, where she also shared breakfast with some members of staff.
Meal times were also an opportunity to present aspects of life in Australia by tasting typical dishes that speak of local customs and traditions: barbecue, vegemite, pies and sausage rolls, as well as an evening of Vietnamese cooking.
The days were full and rich in smiles, laughter and shared stories. From Coorparoo, Sr Mariana and Sr Albertina, another General Councillor who later joined her, were taken to Lone Pine Sanctuary, the largest sanctuary for native Australian animals in the world, where they thoroughly enjoyed the koalas and kangaroos.
The Sisters expressed heartfelt thanks to Sr Mariana for all she shared and for her kindness.
