True treasures are hidden. Through commitment, perseverance and by asking the Holy Spirit for the gift of wisdom, we learn to discern and to choose the true pearl: Christ present in the brother or sister most in need.
Knowing and loving Sacred Scripture unites us to the tradition of the Church and allows us to recognise the new shoots of the Kingdom. Like Saint Magdalene, who knew how to read the signs of her time, we too are called to ‘sell everything’: our position, our comforts, our time, in order to find the true treasure in the sick, in girls and women deprived of any support, and even within our own household.
This spirit, which we have received as an inheritance, invites us to seek that precious pearl, to leave everything behind in order to proclaim the Gospel, so that Jesus may be known and loved. For the Kingdom of God is worth more than anything else, and for Saint Magdalene, that precious pearl had the face of the poor.
Ho mantenuto il registro spirituale e la citazione biblica in linea con lo stile tradizionale del passo di Matteo 13, molto noto nella tradizione anglofona.
