(Bataan) – Janssen, a 22-year-old Filipino and volunteer student with the CVP Batch 35 group, shares his experience in El Nido, Palawan, lived from 2 April to 11 May 2026 as part of the Meaningful Summer programme.
The experience, shared with young people and communities, took place through practical service and summer encounters with families, parish members and neighbours, becoming a way of evangelising through the simplicity of everyday life: turning faith into action, compassion into community, and love into a way of life.
“Being a Canossian Volunteer does not mean only helping; it means embarking on a personal journey of discovering faith and one’s purpose. It is an invitation to be instruments in helping others draw closer to God, showing His love in simple ways and being present alongside those who need guidance and hope, especially children and young people.
At first, I joined the Meaningful Summer 2026 programme because I wanted to make better use of my free time during the holidays. But as my journey progressed, I realised that service is a blessing that continues to shape my heart.
I carry with me the hope that the lessons and examples we share will remain in their hearts even when we are no longer present, and that through our presence they may truly feel the love of God.
Even when there are moments of fear and doubt, especially when facing challenges and trying to pursue their dreams, I continue to hold on to the trust that God guides every step.
On this journey, I have gradually learned that service is not about how much we can accomplish, but about how much we allow God to work through us”.
