Summary of the initiative

Every year, the Bakhita Vocational Training Centre in Bukoba welcomes around 100 girls and women who, through short or annual courses in tailoring, IT and typing, seek to acquire valuable skills that are in high demand in local manufacturing and commercial activities. Keeping the various workshop equipment efficient and up to date is impossible for the Canossian mothers, given the limited possibilities for contributing to the students’ expenses. Completely renovating the IT workshop and replacing the old sewing machines is now a pressing necessity in order to ensure adequate training in line with technical developments and to guarantee a future career for the students.
