In our previous article we shared the story of Josephina, who discovered new skills and the confidence to build her future at the “Bakhita” Vocational Training Centre.
Like her, many other young women arrive at the Centre with a dream — but very few opportunities to make it a reality.
One of them is Biaisha, a young woman who has always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer.
“I have always dreamed of creating clothes”
“My name is Biaisha, and I study at the ‘Bakhita’ Vocational Training Centre run by the Canossian Sisters in Bukoba, Tanzania.
I was not able to complete primary school, but I have always held onto one dream: to become a fashion designer.”
For a long time, that dream felt distant. She did not yet know how to create structured garments, choose the right fabrics, or properly use the tools of the trade.
But when she began the fashion design course at the “Bakhita” Centre, something started to change.
When talent meets training
Through the training she received, Biaisha learnt tailoring techniques, developed the skills needed to face everyday challenges at work and gained the confidence to interact with clients.
But most importantly, she gained something even more valuable: belief in her own abilities.
Today her dream is no longer just a wish.
It is becoming reality.
Biaisha is growing into a skilled dressmaker, able to interpret trends and respond to the needs of the market with passion and professionalism.
A message for other young women
To young women who, like her, carry a dream in their hearts, Biaisha says:
“With determination, commitment and the support of experienced trainers, even what once seemed out of reach can become possible.”
A future that can keep growing
Like Josephina, Biaisha’s story shows how education and vocational training can open new paths towards independence and dignity.
Each year, around one hundred young women come to the “Bakhita” Vocational Training Centre hoping to turn their aspirations into real opportunities.
With your support, we can renew the Centre’s spaces and training equipment, allowing many more young women in Bukoba to learn a profession and build a future of independence and fulfilment.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for whatever you may choose to do.
