When training opens new paths

In our previous article we shared the story of Ivetha, who, thanks to the “Bakhita” Vocational Training Centre, was able to start her own business and begin a journey towards independence.

But Ivetha is not the only one.

Each year, in Bukoba, in north-western Tanzania, the Centre founded by the Canossian Sisters in 1984 welcomes young women who want to learn a profession and build a different future.

Today we would like to introduce Josephina.

“Training gave me confidence in my future”

“My name is Josephina and I studied at the ‘Bakhita’ Vocational Training Centre. There I attended the secretarial course, complemented by a specialisation in event decoration.

This experience turned out to be much more than training – it became the starting point for my future.”

Before discovering the world of event decoration, Josephina had not yet found a clear direction for her life after school.

At the “Bakhita” Centre, however, she found guidance, practical tools and new opportunities. Each lesson helped her transform her curiosity and creativity into professional skills.

Through practical training she learnt how to design different types of decorations, select appropriate materials and organise her work in a structured and professional way.

But that was not all.

During her studies she also developed essential skills such as communication, leadership and the ability to manage responsibilities and professional opportunities.

Putting learning into practice

In a short time, Josephina began putting what she had learnt into practice.

She has already taken part in decorating several events and venues, sometimes taking on positions of responsibility.

For her, the “Bakhita” Centre was not simply a place of learning, but a space where she was able to discover her potential and gain confidence in her future.

A message for other young women

To young women who may find themselves in situations similar to her own, Josephina offers a simple but powerful message:

“Invest in your education and develop new skills. With commitment and the right support, results will come.”

An opportunity that continues

Just like Ivetha’s story, Josephina’s experience shows how education and vocational training can become a concrete path towards dignity and independence.

Every year, the “Bakhita” Vocational Training Centre welcomes many young women who wish to learn a profession and build their own future.

You too can support this journey, helping young women like Josephina transform their aspirations into a profession and into lives full of dignity and fulfilment.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for whatever you may choose to do.
