In the middle of winter, on February 9-11, the Sanctuary of Notre Dame de Lourdes in Lourdes, France will be very active again to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. These 3 days are is more commonly known as Lourdes February Days 2023 – the 3-days celebration of the first apparition of the Immaculate Conception to the 14-year old Bernadette Soubirous on February 11, 1858. Since 1992, St5. Pope Jean Paul II instituted this same day as World Fay of Prayer for the Sick.
Lourdes February Days 2023 will bring together more 850 international stakeholders (pilgrimage directors, hospitality presidents, sanctuary partners, religious tourism professionals, etc.), aside from the bif number of Lourdes regulars who come to the feast every year. It will be formally opened by the Eucharistic Celebration to be president by Mgr. Jean Marc Mica, Bishop of Tarbes – Lourdes. The 3 days are packed with activities such as the Passage to the Grotto & Rock Gesture, Candle Gesture& Blessing of the new Chapels of Light, Eucharistic Procession & Adoration and Candlelight Rosary Procession. There will also be plenaries, round table discussions and workshops on the Theme of the Year, Outlook and Evaluation on the MIssion & Journey of the Relics of St. Bernadette and Pastoral Proposals for the Youth in Lourds 2023.
With all these activities, Lourdes February Days is expected usher in the return of the pre-covid days in Lourdes.
