Serendipity: a day with Mary (audience with the Pope)

Today, the call to be molded into into holiness reverberated in our hearts. We began with a meaningful penitenial rite during the morning mass that invited us to examine our response to the grace of God in our lives through the metaphor of the oil in the lamps in the parable of the Ten Virgins. Inspired, we went to Vatican City where we were met by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re. He prepared us for our audience with our Pope with a mini-tour of the Vatican starting from the Chapel of our Lady of Column whom Paul VI honored with the title Mater Ecclesiae and ending with a group photo at the chapel of Michaelangelo’s famous Pieta. This is serendipity because the private audience with Pope Francis, our Holy Father exhorted us to learn from Mary what it means to be  truly women of the Word and thus be enabled like her, to love without measure. Further reflecting on the theme of our General Chapter he said he was pleased with the word “reconfigure” and reminded us that the secret to this process  is to be guided by the Holy Spirit.
