On December 29th the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore organized an inter-religious Christmas celebration, held in the Church of the Transfiguration in Punggol. The event was attended by several members of the different faiths coexisting in Singapore. The gathering focused on seeking an answer to a crucial question: what is an expression of the aspirations of all men and women regardless of religion? What news of joy may be shared by all people?
In his speech, the Archbishop, Rev. William Goh, suggested an answer: «Christmas, which is a Christian celebration, is also an expression of the aspirations of all men and women, regardless of religions. Every child that comes to this world can change the world. More so when we speak about founders of religions. Whether it’s Jesus, the revered Prophet Muhammad, or the enlightened Buddha, all these great leaders that were born have changed humanity, and they have given an answer to what humanity is striving for. All of us, we seek love, we seek peace, we seek unity with our fellow men. Every religion teaches the same thing: it is love».
