Becora (Timor-Leste) – A day of profound joy and abundant grace marked the life of the Church and of the Canossian Family in Timor-Leste. On 12 December 2026, at the Parish Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Becora, the community of the Daughters of Charity Canossian Sisters, in communion with the local Church, solemnly and prayerfully celebrated the Perpetual Profession of seven sisters.
With grateful hearts, the Institute welcomes the definitive “yes” pronounced by:
• Sister Ana Casimiro
• Sister Luísa Imaculada Gusmão
• Sister Ulfa Maria Elizabeth
• Sister Zenilda Adélio Amaral
• Sister Helena Jerónimo
• Sister Delfina Soares
• Sister Cecília Alzira Magalhães
A “yes” born of hope
The celebration was centred on the biblical motto chosen by the sisters:
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Heb 6:19).
Rooted in this hope that does not disappoint, the seven religious pronounced their lifelong “yes”, entrusting their entire lives to Christ. Through the profession of the vows of Chastity, Obedience and Poverty, they renewed and fully embraced the charism of Saint Magdalene of Canossa, choosing to be living signs of hope, active charity and evangelical witness in the world.
A Church that accompanies and rejoices
The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, SDB, Archbishop of Dili, and concelebrated by numerous diocesan and religious priests. The entire assembly experienced a profound sense of ecclesial communion, gratitude and spiritual joy, accompanying the newly professed sisters with prayer and affection.
Thanksgiving and good wishes
The Canossian Family lifts up its thanksgiving to the Lord for the gift of these vocations and entrusts the sisters to the maternal intercession of Mary and of Saint Magdalene of Canossa.
With heartfelt wishes, we accompany the newly professed sisters on their journey, praying that it may be rich in apostolic zeal, good health and holiness of life, so that they may always be radiant witnesses of God’s love and serve with joy the Church and the poorest, wherever the Lord may send them.
