Summary of the initiative

From 2024, hopes for a better future for many young people on the island of Atauro (East Timor) will be nurtured and strengthened through vocational training courses offered by the new Canossa Youth Training Centre. Courses for catering and hospitality staff, tourism operators and administrative functions are offered in the new, fully equipped facility. Coming largely from extremely poor families, the students’ education costs are partly covered by various local organisations, but further aid is needed to ensure the regularity of the courses and thus guarantee adequate, quality training.
