Becoming a Canossian

PRE-NOVITIATE

“Come and see” (John 1:39)

The pre-novitiate is a time of preparation for the novitiate. It is a period of human and spiritual growth and a sincere search for God’s plan for one’s life, comparing it with the Canossian charism and the form of apostolic religious life.

This formative journey is offered to the young woman who wishes to follow Jesus more closely and live for His Kingdom in the Canossian Family. Attracted by the community’s lifestyle and sensitive to the needs of others, she actively participates in the life of the Church, experiencing life in an apostolic community.

NOVITIATE

“I will allure her, I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her heart.” (Hos 2:16)

The novitiate is a time dedicated to deepening and integrating the fundamental traits of the Canossian charism. It is a journey of following Christ Crucified, lived with freedom and joy, under the guidance of Mary, Mother of Charity at the foot of the Cross.

During this phase, the young woman is accompanied in discovering and consolidating the essential values of Canossian consecrated life, so that she can begin to live them with love, awareness, and fidelity.

JUNIORATE

The juniorate coincides with the time of temporary profession, which is renewed annually. It is a phase in which the Sister is called to internalize and integrate the values developed in the previous stages, progressively verifying her ability to fully live the life and mission of the Institute.

Through apostolic and community experience, the young Sister continues to embrace the Canossian charism and prepares for perpetual profession.

ONGOING FORMATION

Ongoing formation accompanies the entire life of a Canossian Sister, from perpetual profession to her final encounter with the Lord. It is a continuous process of growth, consisting of research, revision, prayer and discernment, which allows for ever-new maturation and constant openness to God’s action in her life.

Becoming a Canossian means entering a journey that continues over time: a response that grows day by day, supported by the community and oriented towards the mission of making Jesus known and loved through charity.
